Ouray

Ouray County is situated in the heart of the San Juan Mountains. Their most well-known towns, Ridgway and Ouray, are significant in Southwestern Colorado history. The 1800’s Colorado gold rush lured prospectors to this region. Many resided in Ouray and left mine shafts that can still be toured today. Ouray is known as the “Switzerland of America” as it is a breathtaking mountain town with plenty of outdoor sights and activities. The Ouray Hot Springs is a popular destination that both locals and tourists enjoy. Ridgway is home to a former railroad stop for the Rio Grande Southern Railroad along the Uncompahgre River. Downtown Ridgway offers lip-smacking cuisine and local museums about the area’s history. You can also visit the Ridgway Reservoir for hiking, fishing, boating, or just a relaxing day under the sun. Not too far from Ridgway and Ouray you’ll find Colona and Loghill Village. They all afford a wide range of outdoor activities while maintaining the small-town aura.
